The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, and permit them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is essential; it depends on how your doors and handles are used. For example, external doors must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, such as anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is crucial that it is not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This will help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that are made to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a faster and easier way to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. These spring cassettes were designed to be used with sprung multipoint locks.
